TOP 5 HAIR MASKS FOR CURLY HAIR

I love using hair masks once a week, and my hair's been loving them too. I use store bought masks as well as home-made, but only five have made a huge impact on my curls:

1. NATURICA DEEP INTENSIVE REPAIR MASK

I bought this hair mask during my hair bleaching phase and I use it whenever my hair needs some extra TLC. It's great for colored hair as it doesn't strip the color like some other hair masks. It's a combination of Olive Oil, Pistachio Oil, and Keratin Extracts that work together to create a nourishing and smoothing treatment. Basically, to break it all down, this hair mask treatment repairs damaged hair fibers and split ends, leaving a silky smooth feel to the hair. In addition, the Pistachio Oil has a high content of phenolic compounds which helps strengthen and repair hair. It's amazing for colored, chemical-ed, and heat damaged hair.

2. 100% EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL

I think coconut oil is THE BEST mask treatment for your hair. Coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft to repair damage, moisturize from within, and protect hair from any future damage. Coconut Oil contains Vitamin E and Lauric Acid, that are both essential for healthy and strong hair while also preventing hair loss. It's also a great mask if you suffer from dandruff because of its anti-fungal properties. I think the only thing that can be quite difficult with coconut oil hair masks is the washing out process. It can be difficult to remove depending on your hair type and the strength of your shampoo. I found this post helpful for removing coconut oil from my hair!

3. SHEA MOISTURE JAMAICAN BLACK CASTOR OIL TREATMENT MASQUE

This is the mask I use almost as often as coconut oil. It smells great and I feel like it does an amazing job at repairing any heat/color damage - Plus, at only $13.00 it's such a steal! Infused with Jamaican Black Castor Oil, this mask is loaded with reparative omegas which are loaded fatty acids that nourish and stimulate the scalp while reducing any shedding and promoting hair growth at the same time. This mask is blended with natural ingredients, such as peppermint, apple cider vinegar, and certified organic shea butter which provides a nourishing hydration that restores the natural bounce, and shine to damaged curls.

4. PANTENE PRO-V OVERNIGHT HAIR SERUM

This hair mask is an overnight repairing formula, for all you busy people. It works at restoring hair's smoothness, shine, and softness all while you sleep without leaving behind a greasy residue on pillows! It's so weightless, and (thankfully) non-sticky. By the time you wake up you're left with shiny and healthy looking hair. It's said to erase 6 months of damage in one use, however, I think it took a few uses for me to actually see a difference as I think I have quite difficult hair. There's also a shampoo and conditioner that can be used along with this for an even greater result.

5. OLIVE OIL HAIR MASK

This mask is more of a DIY, you can use it on its own or mix it with different ingredients. Olive oil is improves the look, feel, and manageability of hair. It's an extremely rich emollient that conditions hair, improves shine, prevents breakage, and makes hair so much easier to comb. I like to mix olive oil with coconut oil, and sometimes I blend it in with avocados and raw eggs. If you're looking for a hair mask that will help promote growth, olive oil is a good direction to head towards. It makes it a lot easier to massage the scalp which increases blood flow, bringing more nutrients and lengthening hair.
