Makeup Forever has released a range of primers that target different skin types while prolonging the wear of makeup at the same time, called Step 1 Skin Equalizer. This range contains ten different primers divided into two categories; texture and tone. The textured primers are the: Mattifying, Smoothing, Hydrating, Nourishing, and Redness correcting primers - The tone primers are the: Radiant pink, Radiant blue, Radiant peach, Radiant caramel and Radiant yellow primers. You can use the texture and tone primers together if you'd like. I tried out the hydrating primer to see if it would improve the condition of my T-zone which was dry compared to the rest of my face.
The Makeup For Ever site claims that the Hydrating Primer instantly quenches thirsty skin because it's formulated with their H2O complex which provides moisture to dry, dehydrated skin. It also boosts and refreshes tired looking skin while transforming it into a healthy, smooth and supple surface for a flawless makeup application.
The hydrating primer comes out looking like lotion with a similar texture but more water based. I apply a good amount of this to my T-zone and around my nose as those are the driest areas on my face, and a normal amount everywhere else on my face. It instantly soothes and moisturizes my skin and to be honest, it reminds me a lot of my current moisturizer which you can read about here. After three uses, my T-zone is noticeably less dry and almost has a glow to it when I'm makeup-less. Lastly, as always, It's important to mention that this primer has a very natural scent to it that's almost odourless once applied to your face.
As most primers go, they're meant to last the majority of the day since you want your makeup to last you all day too. On my first use, I did notice a difference in my skin but I felt that it didn't really help with the longevity of my makeup, so I did what any beauty blogger would do - I tried it again and again until I knew whether it was a hit or miss. Definitely a hit. I'd have to say that after the second use my makeup stuck to my face all day with amazing pigmentation thanks to this primer. I even forgot to take my makeup off one night and my eyeshadow was still on the next morning which really says something about this primer!
I didn't try the full-sized version of this product as I only like to splurge on full-sized items that I know I'll like but after trying this one out until it was completely empty, I have to say I'm really considering buying the full sized version of this, especially since drying winter weather is right around the corner. Although I do have to admit that the skin around my nose area is still dry and flakey, I do believe that with more use this product will help regulate/equalize that area of my skin as well. It's amazing at boosting the pigmentation and longevity of makeup and I highly recommend trying any of the primers in the new Skin Equalizer range by Makeup For Ever.
